Workers Needed for the Harvest!
At the beginning of the shortest month of the year, I hope to make this one of the shorter Weekly Memos I share. The Lord’s people in northwest Oregon are staying busy this month. Lots of prayer and planning for the season ahead. Here are a few things coming up soon:
Friday, February 3, 3 PM – Graveside Memorial Service for Columbia Community Bible Church elder Norman Morrow, Park Hill Cemetery, Vancouver, WA
Thursday, February 9, 10 AM - Portland Area Pastors’ Prayer, Woodland Park Chapel, Portland
Thursday, February 9, 11 AM-2PM - InFaith, Northwest US Field, Area Coordinators’ Meeting, Videoconference
Tuesday February 14, All Day – Valentine’s Day, wherever you are!
Wednesday, February 15, 9 AM – Sandy Area Pastors’ Breakfast, Tollgate Inn, Sandy
A DATE HAS NOT YET BEEN SET FOR OUR NEXT NWXNW FELLOWSHIP (in the far northwest corner of our field). If you are from one of the churches in that group and would like to volunteer to host…please give me a call. There are some new church leaders in your area who would like to meet their fellow shepherds!
March Reminder:
· Saturday, March 11, 10 AM – Sunday School Fellowship Annual Meeting, Woodland Park Chapel
Remember this from the earthly life of Jesus:
“And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion on them, because they were downcast and distressed like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:36-38)
I continue to give thanks to the Lord for opportunities to share the Gospel with your congregations, and to provide respite for weary shepherds from time to time. Pray this month for one of our local InFaith fellowship churches in need of a pastor. They may be issuing a call soon and are seeking the Lord’s wisdom and guidance. Many thanks also to elder Tim Simon of The Church on the Mountain. He is assisting me this month as we advise another congregation on the selection and installation of elders. Please also pray for musicians! Those who can play an instrument and/or lead a congregation in song are in short supply at several of our smaller fellowships. Musicians: if you would be willing to use your God-given gifts at a small church, even for just a week, please give me a call or drop me an email. Your role in the harvest is vital!
May God bless you in your service to Him.
