A FEW THINGS TO PRAY ABOUT THIS WEEK...
Praise God for Advance! 2023
We thank Him for blessing our annual gathering of pastors, missionaries and their spouses this past weekend at Twin Rocks. See more below.
Pray for the family of elder Norman Morrow of Columbia Community Bible Church
Norm went to be with Jesus Sunday morning at the age of 94. His daughter, Marjorie Cavins, says, “He was so happy to be going home!” Norman’s father donated the initial piece of land in Wamic for what became Camp Morrow, where hundreds of young people have come to know Jesus over the decades. It remains a place of special memories for members of his extended family. Pastor Alan Baumgarden is working with the family to plan memorial services: one in February for folks on the west side of Mt Hood, and one later in the year at Camp Morrow, for those in the Wamic area and east. Arrangements are being made by Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home in Vancouver. Norman was predeceased by his wife Betty, and his second bride Barbara, as well as his son Lloyd.
Pray also for Susan Gentry and her family
Susan’s father passed away Saturday in Arizona while she and her husband Pastor Brad Gentry of Woodland Park Chapel were at Advance! 2023 here on the Oregon coast.
Praise God for protection Pastor Abner Naanyane of Columbia Community Bible Church
Abner is recovering this week after suffering only bumps and bruises from a head-on collision in Milwaukie on Friday. Abner’s car was totalled and the other vehicle was damaged, but, praise God, there were no major injuries.
Pray for Pastor John Valnes of The Little Church in the Valley
John and his wife Lisa had to miss Advance this past weekend, as he battled a nasty virus. He is a bit better this morning, but could still use the Lord’s touch to be completely healed.
NOW FOR ADVANCE! 2023
Fourty-seven pastors, church leaders, missionaries and spouses packed into Pacific Woods Lodge and the cabins at Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center this weekend, for a special time of worship, fellowship and reflection. For most, it was their first chance to meet our guest speaker, new InFaith CEO Dr. Jerry Iamurri, whose down-to-earth messages dug into the Word encourage us to pursue our vocation with all of our hearts. Many thanks to Jerry for his uplifting presentations, and to missionaries Larry and Vonnie Pratt, who brought our worship to life with their music.
Thank you to the many of you who shot photos and videos…I will try to incorporate more of them in our printed newsletter later this month.
Now, may God bless us all as we serve Him with all of our hearts, knowing the Kingdom of Christ will continue to grow and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it!
