Blame it on the snow!
This week’s memo is coming out late Tuesday afternoon. Blame it on the snow! I’m not sure what connection there is between the Lord’s provision of the frosty white stuff and my procrastination yesterday, but I’ll stick with the climatological excuse. And that excuse is coming in handy. Already this week I have had two meetings cancelled, and a phone conference rescheduled twice – blame it on the snow! (Even though the cancelled meetings had nothing to do with the weather, and the phone conference could be held in a blizzard!) This morning Caroline and I awoke to a beautiful three-inch white blanket on our deck and yard and neighborhood. We took a nice morning walk before heading off for our respective responsibilities, and thanked God for His provision, protection, and for vehicles that don’t mind a little white stuff on the roads.

Caroline and I were pleased to sing and speak Sunday at Columbia Bible Church, as Pastor Robert and Bonny Klukas were out of town attending the dedication of their grandson. It is always nice to take the drive out to that end of the mighty Columbia, and we were able to cap our day off with a visit to a new church plant in the area. The leaders of the new congregation are considering participating in the InFaith: Northwest Oregon fellowship, and may be looking for a pastor soon. The Lord is growing His Kingdom, daily and we get to be part of it!
Who wants breakfast?
Certainly you have big appetites in this cold weather (blame it on the snow!). You might be able to satisfy that craving, and your appetite for good fellowship, by joining us tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 9 at the Tollgate Inn, for the Sandy Area InFaith Pastors’ Breakfast. Or, if you can’t make it (blame it on the snow), join us the next day at 10 at Woodland Park Chapel for the Portland Area Pastors Prayer time.
Who wants marriage counseling materials?
Pastor Merle Davis has DVD and video based marriage study materials he would like to pass on to anyone who is interested in helping others honor the Lord in their marriages. The videos and workbooks are from H. Norman Wright’s studies: “Before We Say, I Do” and “After We Say, I Do.” If you could use them, or even want to review them, just drop me a line. Merle also asks that we remember Pastor Rudy and Barbara Yost in our prayers. Both have been in declining health recently, and both were hospitalized for a few days last week.
ADVANCE! 2020 is just ten days away!
As of today, we have 39 pastors, missionaries and spouses pre-registered for the weekend at Twin Rocks. Pastor Tim and Judy Simon are ready to lead us in singing praise to the Lord; and our speaker, Missionary/Pastor Dan Robinson from Takilma, Oregon is eager to encourage all of us in our service to Jesus. If you have not already registered, please do so today, either by dropping me an email at thiscox@infaith.org or by visiting the event registration site (click here). There are still at least two deluxe lodge available, and plenty of additional cabin lodging. If you can’t make it…blame it on the snow…But we will miss your fellowship!
So, as You Go About this Wintery Week, Remember the Lord’s Promise: "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow.” Isaiah 1:18. No blame or excuses needed…just an abiding trust in Our Savior.
