My Morning Prayer
On my walk this morning (Monday, June 5), the Lord gave me this reminder of the beauty and fragility of each new life. As the newborn fawn wobbled across the road in front of me and hid beneath her momma’s legs, I thought of my granddaughter Autumn, born with Down Syndrome 20 months ago, and in the hospital this morning for another in a series of surgeries. In my mind I saw my daughter, Rachel, standing over her with parental pride and vigilant protective instincts, ready to help her tackle whatever life brings. I see my own mother, who nursed me and advocated for me through my own years of childhood illness and disability, and I rejoice that God designed it to be this way; each new life placed in the hands of the generation before, to receive care, guidance and love to pass on to the next. Thank you for your prayers for Autumn. She is now out of surgery and doing well. Praise God!
A Brother in Need…Please continue in prayer for Brian Simmons, who shepherds Mountain Home Church. Brian faces surgery Thursday, June 8 on cancerous growths in his neck. We pray the Lord will guide the hands of the surgeon carefully around the sensitive nerves and blood vessels involved and will heal Brian completely.
