New Mercies Every Morning!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The LORD's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23
ADVANCE 2023 IS LESS THAN THREE WEEKS AWAY!
Pastors, missionaries and spouses from the InFaith: Northwest Oregon field are gathering at Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center January 20-22 for Advance 2023, a weekend of reflection, rest and recreation with other fellow servants of the Lord. Led by guest speaker Dr. Jerry Iamurri and musicians Larry and Vonnie Pratt, Advance 2023 promises to be one of the highlights of our ministry year. There are still a few private cabins available for late registrants (but the deluxe lodge rooms are all sold out). To register, please contact me at thiscox@infaith.org, or check out the preregistration site at https://www.nworinfaith.org/events-1/advance2 .
Portland Pastors Prayer, January 12, 10 AM at Woodland Park Chapel
Join with other pastors and church leaders in praying for the churches in our InFaith: Northwest Oregon field, Thursday, January 12 at Woodland Park Chapel in Portland. This monthly gathering is a wonderful time to share the needs of your ministry, and lift up your brothers and sisters in Christ before the Lord. Our two other regular monthly gatherings: NWxNW and the Sandy Area Pastors’ Breakfast will not be held in January, as many regular attendees are preparing to attend Advance 2023. But both events should be back on the February schedule.
Does your ministry have need of a keyboard? Eastmont Bible Church would like to bless you with an extra they have on hand. For details, please contact Pastor Steve Roth at (503) 663-9487.
Honoring a Fellow Shepherd at The Church on the Mountain
The Church on the Mountain (Welches) celebrated the lengthy ministry of elder Larry Hoyt on Sunday. Larry “retired” from the church elder board at the start of the year, after more than three decades of service including serving as pastor or interim pastor at a few other InFaith: Northwest Oregon churches as the need arose. In his farewell address Sunday, Larry encouraged the congregation to continue to faithfully share the gospel whenever and wherever the Lord makes the opportunity available. He also assured the congregation that he and Louise still plan to be an active part of the fellowship, which they began attending more than 40 years ago.
Our condolences to Peggy Davis and her family following the passing of her mother Ruth Ankenbauer, December 28th at the age of 92. Peggy and her husband, Pastor Merle Davis, have provided loving care for Ruth during her convalescence, and will miss her dearly. Her memorial service will be held January 5th at 1 PM at Hockinson Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16108 192nd Avenue, Hockinson, WA, preceded by a viewing at noon. Pastor Merle, who turned 82 on Friday, December 30th received InFaith’s Bryce Bartruff Servant-Leader Award in 2019. He and Peggy remain among InFaith: Northwest Oregon’s most faithful supporters and prayer partners.
