Faithful Shepherds Called to New Fields

“Well done, good and faithful servant…”

Pastor Dan Wentworth is transitioning from his current post at Mountain Home Church to a personal ministry of evangelism and discipleship in his home community of Dundee, OR.

After eleven years of faithful service to Jesus at Mtn Home Church near Colton, Pastor Dan Wentworth announced his resignation Sunday, September 6th.  Pastor Dan and his wife Nancy have expressed a desire to spend more time in evangelism and discipling in their home community (Dundee).  (They have been commuting more than an hour across the Willamette Valley multiple times a week to serve at Mtn Home.)  Dan’s last Sunday in the Mtn Home pulpit is scheduled for September 25th.  Guest speaker Brian Simmons will be teaching at Mtn Home through the month of October, as the elders seek the Lord’s direction for future leadership.

New Pastor Called to Dover!

Dover Community Church (between Sandy and Eagle Creek) will be welcoming a new shepherd in the months ahead.

Praise God!  After a lengthy pastoral search, Dover Community Church has extended a call to Pastor Jason Young to shepherd their congregation.  Jason accepted the call last week, but the timing of his start remains unsettled.  Jason has served in his current position in Klamath Falls for 25 years and his wife is also under contract in her employment, so it may take a little while for the details to be worked out.  Outgoing Pastor Bob Droullard is praising the Lord and looking forward to working with Jason to see a smooth transition in leadership.

Portland Pastors’ Prayer, September 15, 10 AM
After a short hiatus last month, Portland Pastors Prayer meeting will be held Thursday, September 15th at 10 AM at Woodland Park Chapel.  Please help us praise the Lord for developments in the Northwest ministry area and bring the concerns of our shared ministries before Him.

NWXNW Fellowship, September 20, 9 AM
Join leaders of the six churches in the far northwest portion of our field as we gather at Deer Island Community Church for a couple hours of informal fellowship, sharing and prayer.  Let us lift one another up before the Lord and encourage one another as we serve our Savior in a struggling world.

By the way, we are also looking for a location for our NWxNW gathering in October.  If your church would like to host October 11 or 18, please let me know.

Sandy Pastors’ Breakfast, September 21, 9 AM
Join with fellow shepherds from the eastern portion of our ministry field for our monthly fellowship breakfast, Wednesday, Sept 21, 9 AM at Tollgate Inn, Sandy.

Please Pray for the Thomas Family
Please continue to speak to the Lord about the family of Joshua Thomas.  Joshua, the son of Pastor John and Marilyn Thomas of Mayger-Downing Community Church went home to be with the Lord last Thursday, September 1 after a difficult battle with cancer.  He leaves behind his wife Rebecca, ten children, and an eleventh to be born this year.

Men’s Roundup Coming up this weekend!
I hope to see many of you at Men’s Roundup this weekend at Camp Tadmor.  Jim Van Voorst and I will be sharing a comfy travel trailer.  My sons and son-in-law will be camped out somewhere on the grounds.  Mtn Home Church will have a small contingent of men in their campsite, and a couple thousand others may show up too!  May God bless us all and keep us safe as we hold one another up in our effort to honor Him in our lives.
