Walking With Jesus Though a Change of Season

Prayer Request: Norm Morrow
Elder Norm Morrow from Columbia Community Bible Church (Portland) has been hospitalized with a few broken vertebrae following a fall at his home this week.  Please remember to ask the Lord to bless and strengthen him in the days ahead.  CCBC Pastor Steven Boyle says Norm is in Legacy Emmanuel Hospital with limited visitation allowed.  Norm is a member of the family that donated land near Wamic for what became Camp Morrow, where thousands of young people have grown closer to the Lord in summer visits for many decades.

Prayer Time Change
To accommodate an active ministry schedule at Woodland Park Chapel, our monthly Pastors Prayer gathering is switching to the second Thursday of each month, starting October 13.  Pastors and ministry leaders are encouraged to set aside this time to join us in intercession with the Lord for the many ministries active in the InFaith: Northwest Oregon field.  The prayer time begins at 10 AM and usually lasts a little more than an hour, led by Steven Boyle and WPC Pastor Brad Gentry.

Thanks to Aims Community Church
It was a blessing Sunday afternoon to meet with the Aims Community Church missions committee for a conversation about the Lord’s work through InFaith: Northwest Oregon.  ACC (our home church) has graciously supported our InFaith ministry, ever since I stepped down as their pastor at the end of 2017.  Caroline and I are so thankful to have such a loving church family.  Special thanks to Pastor Glenn and Nancy Austin who hosted the lunch meeting in their home.

Host Church Needed for October 11 NWxNW Fellowship
The next NWxNW fellowship is tentatively scheduled for October 11 starting at 9 AM at one of the churches in that area of our field: Mayger-Downing, Shiloh Basin, Hudson Park, Columbia Bible (Rainier), Deer Island, and Holbrook.  I hope to have the location nailed down soon.  If your church is part of the NWxNW group and would like to host next month, please drop me a line.

I also want to recognize that many of you in the NWxNW area have wonderfully reflected the love of Jesus in comforting and assisting the Thomas family following the passing of Joshua (son of Pastor John & Marilyn Thomas of Mayger-Downing Community Church).  Joshua’s celebration of life on Sunday at Woodland Christian Church was one of the most God-honoring memorials I have attended recently.  Joshua and his wife Rebecca have certainly left a legacy of faith and love to be followed by their eleven children, and by the communities they served.

Thanks Pastor Dan & Nancy Wentworth
One service I was sad to miss Sunday was Pastor Dan Wentworth’s final Sunday at Mtn Home Church (Colton).  Dan and Nancy have driven across the Willamette Valley multiple times a week to serve that small rural congregation for the past eleven years.  Now, Dan plans to focus on their home community of Dundee, where he sees many opportunities for personal outreach and evangelism.  The Mtn Home Church will hold a brief member meeting after the October 2 worship service so that Elder John Abraham and I can pray with them, and seek the Lord’s guidance for new leadership for the congregation.

Tell your Pastor He is Loved and Appreciated!
October is pastor appreciation month.  Pastor appreciation Sunday will be celebrated by many churches on October 9th.  Make sure your shepherds know that you appreciate the personal sacrifices that they make to help you and your congregation walk closer with God.

May you all be blessed in your walk with Jesus this week!
