Starting the Week with a Sweet Hour of Prayer
It’s Wednesday already! And some of you are wondering, “Where is that Weekly Memo that Tom always sends out?” As some late person once said, “Better late than never!” I hope you will joyfully take a few minutes to read this week’s update and rejoice in what the Lord is doing in His InFaith family in Northwest Oregon.
This week started with a special time of prayer for participants from several InFaith fellowship churches, gathered at Columbia Community Bible Church in Portland. Pastors Brad Gentry (Woodland Park Chapel) and Steven Boyle (Columbia Community Bible Church) led us an a “Sweet Hour of Prayer” on Sunday evening. Brad opened in prayerful singing before we divided into small groups of 3-5 to intercede specifically for friends and family members in need. To help guide our prayers, we were encouraged to pray through Ephesians 3:14-21, entreating the Lord on behalf of our loved ones, that they would “know the love of Christ” and “be filled up to all the fulness of God.” It was a sweet and tender time before the Lord, which both Brad and Steven say they hope will be repeated, perhaps moving from church to church in our InFaith fellowship. If your church is interested in hosting a similar InFaith event in the future, please drop me a note, thiscox@infaith.org .
As the month of May wraps up, many of us are planning special remembrances for Memorial Day. May God bless you as you honor Him and those who have sacrificed for America’s freedom. Caroline and I will be in California this weekend, where we will join my mother in visiting my father’s final resting place. While we were fortunate to have him with us until last summer, when he died at the age of 93, we do wish to honor and remember his service to the country during WW2.
Coming Up:
June 5 – I will be blessed to share the Word at The Church on the Mountain (Welches) as Pastor Thomas Robinson and many of the men at the church will be retreating to Camp Morrow.
June 15 – Sandy Area Pastors’ Breakfast (if Tollgate Inn has enough staff to be open for breakfast. If not, we will meet next door at the bakery at 9 AM).
June 23 – Portland Area Pastors’ Prayer, 10 AM at Woodland Park Chapel (PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE).
As we all prepare for busy summers of ministry, vacations, family events and more, please remember the Lord is with you wherever you go. Keep an eye out for even little ways that He provides for you to share His love with those you meet. Keep the Faith!
