Right Where God Wants You!
Sometimes an InFaith missionary is in exactly in the right place at exactly the right time. It’s a God thing. This can be said for missionaries Gary and Linda Casady who serve Jesus in the Dalles, Oregon. Last week, days after cold, snowy weather had pounded the central Columbia River Gorge dumping about 3 feet of snow, my wife Caroline received a text from a friend, who was trapped in in her tiny-house on a remote farm about 7 miles outside the Dalles. She was running out of supplies and feeling pretty vulnerable. Caroline and I prayed for her, but realized we couldn’t reach her. We live more than an hour away (in good conditions) and didn’t know exactly where she was. So Caroline emailed Gary for help. We figured he might have a better idea how to find the remote address. And he sure did! It turns out, Gary’s own farm shares a fence with the 500 acre parcel where our friend is staying. Gary had already managed to shovel out his home and navigate the snowy roads into town. So he went to the store, bought a few bags of groceries, trekked back into the countryside, and made his way up the rough ranch roads to find our friend. She didn’t know he was coming and – in his words -- she was “gobsmacked” to see him at her door with supplies. Thanks, Gary and Linda, for being right where God wants you and for responding to His call day after day!
Sandy Area Pastors’ Breakfast – January 19
The first Sandy Area Pastors’ Breakfast of the new year is this Wednesday at 9 AM at Tollgate Inn in Sandy. Come share a (no-host) meal with fellow shepherds and encourage one-another in service to Jesus.
Final Call for Advance 2022
If you are planning to come to Advance 2022 at Twin Rocks this weekend, but have not yet registered…NOW IS THE TIME. Call me directly at 971-645-2777. We have one Deluxe Lodge Room available, and several standard cabins. Because of COVID precautions, we may not be able to accommodate those who show up without a reservation. This should be a great weekend of fellowship at the beach. The weather forecast looks pretty good and our speaker Pastor Ron McMullen has prepared a series of messages from the Word, just for folks like you, who work on the front lines of ministry. A few logistical notes to remember:
Please bring an appropriate face mask
Please show up no earlier than 4 PM and pick up your key from Pastor Steven Boyle at the Pacific Woods Lodge
Dinner is on your own Friday night, so plan to enjoy one of the nice eateries on the coast
Minor Schedule Change: breakfasts both mornings will be served, family-style at 8 AM.
If you bring books or ministry materials to share or exchange, please be prepared to take them home if they are not picked up by someone else.
Please come with an open heart, to hear from the Lord as you relax in the beauty of His Coastal creation!
Your Ministry Information forms help others understand what Jesus is doing through the churches of Northwest Oregon.
Thank you Pastor Thomas Robinson (The Church on the Mountain) and Pastor John Thomas (Mayger-Downing) for being the first to submit your 2022 Ministry Information Forms. This data is extremely helpful as I prepare my annual report to our Home Office. If your church has not submitted its info, click this link to download the one-page form.
Snow Shovels
Since we started with snow, let us end with snow…Gary Flood of Woodland Park Chapel says a food bank he volunteers with has some large snow rakes to give away (2 feet wide with long handles to rake snow off a roof). If your church has interest in one, please drop me a line and I will pass the request on to Gary.
Please Pray
For 2-year-old Violet who is having heart surgery at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital tomorrow (January 18)
For 4-month-old Autumn, my granddaughter, who is having heart surgery Thursday (January 19) at Randall Children’s Hospital.
May God’s richest blessings be poured out in your hearts this week!
