Have You Considered a Church Without Walls?

Aims Community Church was one of several fellowships in our area meeting out of doors on this sunny Memorial Weekend. Pastor Glenn Austin shared the Word from the patio of the old church building right before congregants shared in a delicious barbecue lunch.

Columbia Community Bible Church (Portland) opened their grounds for a neighborhood yard sale August 21. Pastor Steven Boyle says the small event was one way the CCBC congregation could get to know more of their neighbors. Pastor Boyle says 50-100 people trickled in to the event throughout the day, a few coming for the free hot dogs and hamburgers the church was serving. At one of the tables, the Bridgeton Neighborhood Association handed out free disaster preparedness kits and information.

This coming weekend, Caroline and I will have the privilege of meeting with Pastor Ron McMullan and his wife Vickie at their home church in Prineville. Pastor Ron, who served for some time at The Church on the Mountain (Welches) will be our speaker at InFaith: Northwest Oregon’s Advance 2022, January 21-23 at Rockaway Beach. Registration for pastors, missionaries and their spouses is expected to begin in November. Watch here for more information!

And watch your calendar for these upcoming ministry-wide events in September:

  • Sept 13 - NWxNW ministry leaders fellowship, Cornerstone Cafe (Rainier), 10 AM

  • Sept 15 - Sandy Area Pastors Breakfast, Tollgate Inn, 9 AM

  • Sept 30 - Portland Area Pastors Prayer, Woodland Park Chapel, 10 AM

One more reminder: October is pastor appreciation month. Please make sure your shepherds know how much they mean to you and your churches!

May the Lord keep you all healthy and joyful in His service,

Tom Hiscox, Area Missionary thiscox@infaith.org
